Hurricane IKE Preparedness Update (12:30pm 9/17/08):

All South Coast plants, Wallisville, Strang Road (La Porte) and the Marine Terminal, sustained minimal damage from Hurricane IKE. 

The SCT management and operations teams are in the process of assessing critical systems and making minor repairs due to wind and water damage. We will be providing updates on a daily basis until we are able to resume routine operations.  

From a broader perspective on the city of Houston, there are a few important issues that you should be aware of:

·       Mayor White has asked that we conserve power and water until all essential services for the city are restored.

·       A large portion of the city remains without power and in some areas there is little or no water pressure.

·       Fuel is in short supply and this is effecting intercity transportation services, Metro buses are not running

In addition to the website updates, the South Coast “Hotline” will have a recorded message indicating our operating status for each plant during this time period.
